University of South Africa: CODeL message taken to the Eastern Cape

The institution’s colleges were present and were assisted by support staff in the region, including the Eastern Cape Regional Student Representative Council.

The open days afforded current and prospective Unisa students the opportunity to visit stalls for face-to-face interaction with representatives from different colleges to gather more information on what Unisa is all about as a CODeL university, and to ask questions related to qualifications and subject choices.

Unisa staff moreover informed students about the support services available and the various qualifications the institution offers. Student administrative staff were on hand to assist prospective students with their applications.

One is never too old to study; this was proved when the event also received a visit from a prospective student who was over 60 years old and was carrying all the required documents for applying and enrolling at Unisa.

The event was a success and the turnout was good, as it was advertised in the relevant local media such as community radio stations and local newspapers. The event was also promoted on social media. Visitors indicated that they were pleased that the event took place outside the regional hub so that they did not have to travel long distances.
