Marwadi University students bag scholarships at 2022 Vodafone Innovation Marathon

New Delhi: Two students from Marwadi University (MU) — the youngest institution to be recognized as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) by the Government of Gujarat — have won scholarships of INR 2 lakh each at the Vodafone Innovation Marathon 2022, a nationwide _VOIS for Tech University Engagement Program. Hitesh Kriplani and Pranjul Mishra, both 7th semester Computer Engineering (Artificial Intelligence) students, at MU were declared winners for their tech-based ideas around real-time fire detection and personalized treatment of patients based on medical history, respectively.

The recently concluded Marathon was organized at a national level in which 400+ teams participated across India from various eminent educational institutions across India.  Along with the two winners, a team consisting of Kushagra, TusharThoriya and DishaParmar were finalists. They presented their tech-based idea of brain tumor detection using ML in the finale. The 2022 Innovation Marathon was designed to be a platform for technology innovators to build solutions using Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, among others.

“The Innovation Marathon was a wonderful opportunity for students like us to hone our technical and entrepreneurial skills. I am glad to have been offered a platform to showcase a tech-based idea geared for social good,” said Hitesh Kriplani. “In addition to the financial scholarship, it was a great opportunity to receive mentorship from industry leaders, and to attend master classes and boot camps. I’m thankful I got the chance to present my idea prototype to a panel of industry experts and engage with them in real time” added Pranjul Mishra.

Recently, the “State of the Education Report for India 2022: Artificial Intelligence in Education” by UNESCO, highlighted that healthcare, agriculture, education, infrastructure and transportation are five key areas having potential for AI-driven technology to transform millions of lives. “AI and ML are technologies that have a huge potential to solve social issues in healthcare, environment and disaster management. The competition proves that application of emerging technologies for social good is the future, and our students are ready for to play their part,” added, Dr. R B Jadeja, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, MU.

On a similar theme, an upcoming National Seminar has been planned to foster deep research on computer vision and image processing in collaboration with IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to tech advancement. It will be scheduled at the MU campus on 11th & 12th November, 2022.
