RTO Jammu hosts debate competition, training camp for students
Jammu: A debate competition on Road Safety Awareness-cum-First Responder Training Programme was organized by Regional Transport Office, Jammu, here today, in collaboration with United Public Hr. Sec. School, Channi Himmat and SDRF.
The awareness event was organized on the directions of Principal Secretary to Government, Transport Department and Transport Commissioner, J&K.
RTO Jammu, Dhananter Singh, the Chief Guest at the event, expressed concern over the increasing incidents of road accidents and stressed upon all stakeholders to follow traffic rules for safe driving on roads. He advised the students not to drive vehicle till they attain the age of 18 years and spread the message of Road Safety among their families and public to make it a campaign for saving precious human lives from road accidents. He also mentioned that such programmes will be conducted regularly in future.
ARTO (HQ), Jammu, Shammi Kumar, while addressing the students said that every year about 1.50 lakh people die due to road accidents in India, out of which 25% deaths are due to accidents of two wheeler riders. He advised the students and faculty members of the school to wear Helmets and Seat Belts, while plying vehicle on road, for their safety and security of their family.
A team of SDRF also participated in the programme and presented a Demonstration of CPR/First Responder Training to students. The Team made the students aware about steps to be taken to save accident victims and shifting them to the nearest hospital within first golden hour for saving their lives.
Earlier, the Principal of the School, Rajni Sharma, welcomed the officers and guests. She informed about various road safety programmes conducted in the school from time to time and thanked the RTO Jammu for organising this programme in their institute.
Vice Principal of the school, Ritu Mahajan presented vote of thanks.
Among others present were ARTO (BOI-G), Rajesh Gupta; HOD Psychology, Jammu University, Professor R.P. Bakshi; Secretary of the School, Sarika Sharma and MVI Gurmeet Singh Bali. Diksha Sharma anchored the programme.
