Aleksandra Dolgosheina, a first-year Master’s student of the Department of Psychology at Ural Federal University, won a grant of 880,000 rubles from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) to implement the “Animation Film Campus” project. The project will take place in preparation for the Ural Film Festival “Oyka”, which is held for the second year. The idea of the festival is to study the influence of the region on the film industry.

“The Animation Film Campus project will take place next year, but we have already started preparing for it. Animation is a very labor-intensive process, so professionals will be working with the participants. This project is about preserving history and adapting traditional culture in a modern style. The adaptation should not be vulgar, but with the preservation of historical aesthetics”, told Aleksandra.

“Film Campus” is aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of the Urals by adapting the traditional Urals art in the modern culture through animation. The result of the project will be the creation of animated films. Each will be based on adapted stylistic features of traditional crafts of the Urals: Nevyansk icon painting, Perm animal style, Tagil painting, etc.

From May to December 2023, Campus participants will undergo theoretical training under the guidance of experts in animation, art history, and local history. In addition, there are plans to show the works created during the “Animation Film Campus” at various venues in Ekaterinburg and other cities in the Urals.
