KVK Bandipora organises Awareness camp on Natural farming at Kootasatri Village
BANDIPORA : To promote eco-friendly farming approach, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora today organized an awareness camp on Natural Farming at Kootasatri Sumlar.
Farmers of Sumlar and officers as well as experts participated in the awareness program.
Programme Coordinator KVK Bandipora, Dr. Tariq Sultan explained in detail the basic principles and practical aspects of zero budget Natural Farming.
He said Natural Farming is an agro-ecology based diversified farming system, which integrates crops, trees and livestock, allowing functional biodiversity and avoiding harmful effects of chemical farming on soil and human health.
Dr Nazir Ahmad Mir, Subject Matter Specialist Animal Science while addressing the gathering of farmers and farm women said that Cow dung based Natural farming plays a major role in stopping the deteriorating soil quality. The chemical additives and fertilizers have adversely affected the soil quality and also burn a hole in the pocket of farmers.
Chairman Block Development Council Arin, Ghulam Rasool Khan also participated in the event and appreciated the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bandipora for upliftment of the tribal people.
