CUPB Vice-Chancellor releases Book entitled “Fused Pyrimidine-Based Drug Discovery” edited by Prof. Raj Kumar
Bathinda : The Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, released a book entitled “Fused Pyrimidine-Based Drug Discovery.” The book is published by Elsevier and edited by Professor Raj Kumar, FRSC, Dean, School of Health Sciences, and Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda.
On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari congratulated Prof. Raj Kumar for editing a valuable book in the discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He added that this book would be a useful resource for those involved in the formative stage of drug discovery who have an interest in developing the drugs of the future while taking advantage of the unique properties of fused pyrimidine ring systems as pharmacophores or scaffolds. Prof. Tiwari mentioned that the university is committed to actualizing its mission of generating new knowledge and setting higher benchmarks in education and research.
While sharing the details, Prof. Raj Kumar stated that this book focuses on the classification, structural chemistry, chemical and physical properties, along with various approaches for their synthesis. The text is divided based on the size of rings fused with a pyrimidine ring, chemical structures, preparation methodologies, and biological applications from 2015 to the end of 2021. At the beginning of each chapter, synthetic methods have been presented in a cursory manner, followed by biological actions, docking studies, and structure-activity relationship (SAR). This book would be ideal for researchers in organic chemistry, both in academic and industrial settings, and postgraduates in chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
Prof. Raj Kumar is an eminent scientist in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences and an Elected member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
