Three new postgraduate degree programmes have been launched in Dundee as part of a new partnership between Abertay University and the city’s Al Maktoum College of Higher Education.

The courses – MSc Moral Economy and Sustainable Development, MSc Law and Sustainability, and MSc Strategic Organisational Learning – will all see modules taught at Al Maktoum, with the research and dissertation components based at Abertay.

Close neighbours in Dundee city centre, the two institutions have a history of collaboration, and both share a common aim to provide transformational opportunities for people in the local area and further afield.

‘As key anchor institutions in the city, both Abertay and Al Maktoum play essential roles in providing educational opportunities to the people of Dundee and beyond – so, to be joining together on this excellent new postgraduate offer is a hugely positive step, which I’m confident will be a great success’ – Abertay Principal, Professor Liz Bacon
The MSc Moral Economy and Sustainability is designed to provide students with the knowledge required to encounter and address challenges facing decision makers in the fields of human development, social work, environmental protection, policy making, and sustainability. It explores sustainability through the lens of morality and social responsibility and in a variety of fields from governance, civil society activism to policy making.

The MSc Law and Sustainability covers sustainability in relation to law, policies and legal practices and in a variety of fields from environmental law, sustainable housing law to corporate social responsibility. It provides students with advanced and specialist knowledge in key areas of environmental law and liability and housing law, together with a detailed understanding of corporate governance.

The MSc Strategic Organisational Learning – the first of its kind in the UK – teaches the fundamental concepts of both organisational learning, as well as individual, team and machine learning. It builds on diversified bodies of knowledge, including total quality management, open innovation, organisational development, and workplace learning.

All three MSc courses are also available at PhD level.
