The Centre for Personal Financial Wellbeing (CPFW) at Aston University is set to hold its annual conference, Researching Personal Financial Wellbeing 2022.

The online event is being held jointly with the UK’s Money and Pension Service on Wednesday 9 November, during national Talk Money Week.

It will explore how research activity from a wide variety of different perspectives is helping to understand what is happening in a variety of personal finance related areas but also how it should play a role in aiding the development of solutions to address these challenges.

The event will bring together those undertaking research in personal finance from a range of backgrounds and the users of this research to discuss the outcomes of a number of key current projects, and to together explore an agenda for where more work is needed in support of delivery of the five priority goals of the UK Strategy for Financial Wellbeing.

The conference will consist of a series of panel discussions with speakers from Aston University, the Money and Pension Service, Citysave Credit Union, the Barrow Cadbury Trust, NEST Insight and SAGA as well as a number of other UK universities.

Timpson Group CEO, James Timpson, will lead a talk around corporate financial help.

Andy Lymer, centre director and professor of taxation and personal finance at Aston University, said:

“I am looking forward to hosting our annual conference at such an important time and unprecedented time.

“Ever increasing news coverage is being given to the pressing issues of personal financial wellbeing.

“The financial challenges currently facing UK households are unprecedented in recent times. They loom large for a significant and growing proportion of the population.
