Children’s Day at AMU schools

Aligarh : Elaborate cultural programmes were held across Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) schools to mark the Children’s Day and the 133rd birth anniversary of First Indian Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Well-known pediatrician, Dr Hameeda Tariq inaugurated the Fete at the AMU ABK High School-Girls in which school students conducted and operated food stalls, photoshoot points, rides, games, a special art and craft exhibition and a science exhibition among other activities.

“The school teachers and other staff members helped the students in organizing the Fete,” said Dr Saba Hasan (Vice Principal, AMU ABK High School-Girls).

Similarly a Fete was also organised to celebrate Children’s Day at the AMU City Girls’ High school after a special assembly with sessions on moral talks and motivational songs. Students also participated in events of Tug of War, Jalebi Race, Mathematics Race, Shuttle Run, Shotput and Lemon Race.

Inaugurating the cultural and sports events, Dr MD Alamgir (School Principal) said: “Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru believed that children will always remain the Nation’s real strength. He once famously said that children of today will make the India of tomorrow”.

At the STS School, Faisal Nafis (Principal) addressed the students on the importance of Children’s Day and urged them to make time for sports activities along with excellence in studies.

He was speaking in a special assembly session to celebrate Children’s Day.

Dr Mohd Omar shared anecdotes from the life of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Sports and cultural activities were later held to mark the occasion.
