District Administration Shopian Celebrates ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’
SHOPIAN : To commemorate the brave tribal freedom fighters and unique cultural heritage of the tribals of Jammu and Kashmir, the District Administration Shopian today celebrated Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas which marks the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, the iconic tribal freedom fighter.
On this occasion, the main programme was organised at Government High School Zampathri, here.
Joint Director Planning Khursheed Ahmad Khatana presided over the function whereas Chief Education Officer, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed was the guest of the honour.
Speaking during the event, JDP said that this is for the first time that the programme is being organised on a large scale to pay tributes to tribal freedom fighters who are considered as heroes of India’s freedom struggle.
Highlighting the measures being taken for the welfare of the tribal community, JDP said that the District Administration is very much concerned for the socio-economic uplift of the SC/ST and OBC sections and highlighted major interventions of the Government for their upliftment. He emphasised upon the students for achieving more and more knowledge to brighten their future.
The CEO said that Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is celebrated every year to recognize the efforts of the tribal community in the preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of Indian values of national pride, valour, and hospitality.
On this occasion, varieties of cultural performances in gojri were also presented by the students of Government High School Zampathri.
Among others officers, PRIs, others concerned officials and students in large numbers participated in the said programme.
