The purpose of the session was to establish and maintain long-term mutual relationships with relevant stakeholders, share plans and goals, and explore possible collaborations and partnerships on projects that may be of mutual benefit.

During the session, presentations were made by a number of Unisa management members. In his opening statement, Mathews Kokong, Unisa Midlands Regional Director, outlined the purpose of the event. He further highlighted Unisa’s vision statement, which is “towards the African university in the service of humanity”, and expounded on the significance of living up to this mandate as the university approaches its 150th anniversary within the next few months. In his closing remarks, he highlighted that Unisa remains open for collaborations and partnerships with different stakeholders, to jointly contribute meaningfully towards the upliftment of communities within the Midlands Region.

The session also provided an opportunity for marketing. Dr Moses Hlongoane, Acting Executive Dean: College of Accounting Sciences, discussed career offerings available at the college and requested stakeholders to share the information within their respective organisations.

Organisations present at the event included Kalkpoort Soutwerke (producers of salt and salt products), the Small Enterprise Development Agency, the Dawid Kruiper Municipality, the Department of Education and the Department of Health.
