Ural Federal University: University Students Mastered Python to Create Bots
In the era of digitalization, every student understands that knowledge of coding and web development will be useful for employment in any field. Ural Federal University students have an opportunity to receive additional education in IT in parallel with their major, and they actively use it. For example, Ulyana Udovichenko, a fourth-year Media Communications student, created a bot using Python programming language.
“I chose a program that focuses on learning the Python programming language for several reasons. First of all, it is one of the easy programming languages – I wanted to start with something simple. I only needed a basic understanding of English and math to learn it. Another important reason for learning it is the creation of bots. Bots perform a given task much faster than a human. That is what makes them so convenient. You can also use Python to create websites, and for my profession related to media, this is very useful,” said Ulyana Udovichenko.
Training at the Digital Chair project is available to IT and non-IT students: Bachelors from the 2nd year and above, Specialists from the 3rd year, Master’s students studying in non-IT fields.
“I can tell you straightforwardly – absolutely everything is new to me, as I had never been involved in programming in any way before. Informatics at school does not count. Therefore, I cannot single out one thing in particular. With every training I learn new processes. As soon as they found out at work that I was studying programming languages, I was immediately paired with a colleague with the task to write a media dictionary bot. This is very interesting and responsible at the same time,” added Ulyana.
The competencies acquired as part of the project will allow an UrFU student to become a unique and in-demand specialist with a different salary level when he or she graduates from the university.
