Ural Federal University: Almost 6,700 People Attended the Career Time Event in Ekaterinburg

On November 11, the Career Time event brought together students and recent graduates from a record number of universities and colleges. Guests prepared their own resumes, consulted about available jobs and internships with HR specialists from companies, and attended express interviews.

“Students and recent graduates from a record number of educational institutions – 66 universities and colleges – took part in the Career Time campaign in Ekaterinburg, some of them came from other regions. The majority of the participants, over 4,800 people, joined us for the first time. Due to the variety of formats of interaction with employers, the project is useful both for beginners without experience and for graduates, because the participants can not only apply for an internship or get into the talent pool of companies, but also try their hand at real interviews,” said Aleksey Agafonov, First Deputy General Director of ANO Russia – Land of Opportunities.

Career Time in Ekaterinburg was visited by 6,679 people. The campaign was supported by 50 employers, including the Pipe Metallurgical Company, Rosatom State Corporation, Kontur Company, and Sinara Bank. Educational opportunities became a separate track of the program.

“We strengthened the block of presentations of Master’s programs, because many of them the university implements together with companies-employers, offering students during their studies projects from enterprises, internships, and sometimes real employment. Experts of Ural Federal University told at the action about the role of a magistracy in career development and helped the participants to build an educational trajectory. Meanwhile, the UrFU Innovation Infrastructure presented the Startup as a Diploma project and the Digital Industry and New Materials accelerator program,” said Victor Koksharov, Rector of the Ural Federal University.

The most popular event of the campaign was the discussion “Your Business. Career Start” with more than 400 students interested in it. Experienced entrepreneurs shared their success stories, gave advice on choosing successful ideas, starting their own business, looking for the first investments, and talked about the role of marketing and service in attracting customers. Other popular topics of the master classes included tips on how to write a resume and get an interview, work in the IT and investment business, and finding and developing your own talents.

“Master classes from employers were attended by 3,200 participants of the campaign. In choosing topics, we focus the speakers on teaching guests useful skills for employment. This is a key feature of the Career Time project – here students get acquainted with employers in an informal setting, are immersed in games and contests about corporate culture, and receive honest advice about the specifics of work. Already in the next months this will help participants when looking for internships or entering the labor market,” emphasized Oybek Partov, Director of the UrFU Center for Partner Relations Development.

Ural Federal University organized a city career event of this format for the 11th time. The participants will continue to get acquainted with the labor market with the help of digital services of the Career Time project. Everyone registered has access to a resume builder adapted for specialists without experience, more than 23 thousand vacancies from 1917 verified employers of the country, a knowledge bank with useful master classes and articles on career trajectory for novice professionals. Also until the end of November in VKontakte social networking site launched an online career marathon, its first five webinars have already collected more than 300 thousand views.

The event was held as part of the Career Time project, organized by the Russia – Land of Opportunities Presidential Platform, Ural Federal University and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
