King’s College London: King’s Sport & Wellness partner with HFE
King’s Sport & Wellness are delighted to announce a partnership with leading health and fitness training provider, HFE, to upskill a group of both current students and graduates to join the expanding fitness team as casual staff members
Strand Gym 8
The King’s Sport & Wellness Academy brings together our coaching, volunteering and workforce opportunities under one arm in order to maximise its impact and experience to our students. As part of this opportunity, students will enhance their personal and professional development through gaining industry-recognised qualifications whilst also gaining first-hand experience in the health and fitness industry.
The group will complete the online level 2 gym instructor course, gaining the knowledge, skills and confidence required to deliver a range of services to members including gym inductions, programme design, and to maintain the state-of-the-art gym equipment to a high standard. The growth of the gym team will also allow greater provision of high-quality fitness classes across King’s Sport & Wellness facilities.
Once qualified, the new staff will begin paid work in King’s Sport & Wellness gyms, with ongoing support and access to the expertise of the full-time gym coaches.
HFE have been excellent to work with so far – they have been accommodating to our needs and been very competitive on price. Furthermore, their online learning option will allow our learners to take the course at their own pace and fit it in around the busy schedule of their academic and work commitments.
– David Mudd, Gym Operations Supervisor at King’s Sport & Wellness
The Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing qualification is an Ofqual regulated qualification accredited by YMCA Awards, and is also mapped to the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) Professional Standard, ensuring the best possible level of service to gym members.
The gym instructor qualification is the first of two stages to become a personal trainer, providing entry onto a level 3 personal trainer course.
King’s Sport & Wellness turn to HFE for the required training as they offer the most competitive price when considering the range and quality of the resources and support provided as standard. Given the ongoing study demands of the College students, the flexibility of the programme and the ad-hoc support available perfectly matched to the needs of the students’, providing the best platform for progress.
We’re excited and proud to support King’s Sport & Wellness to grow their fitness team via the online level 2 gym instructor course. David and the team have a clear vision, and operate with a high-standard with the best interests of the members at the heart of everything they do. It’s refreshing to work with an organisation like King’s Sport & Wellness who provide opportunity to current students and recent graduates supporting the next steps of their education and career. We’re thoroughly looking forward to getting started”.
