Presentation Ceremony of Collympics at Sri Sri University

Cuttack : On 29th November 2022, the Presentation Ceremony of 7th edition of Collympics- an intra-University Sports competition was conducted in Sri Sri University campus. This also marks the beginning of the first ever Sports Council. Collympics 7.0 witnessed twelve types of sports viz., Cricket, Futsal, Volleyball, Badminton, Throwball, Chess, Athletics, Basketball, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Kho Kho, Tug of War. This time, initiatives have been taken for the participation of girls and two new sports have been added in the bouquet of events conducted from 13th November to 17th November 2022.

The 21 individual and group competitions have been conducted with participation of more than 400 players with 250 winners among which more than 80 were girls. Collympics 7.0 Sports events also viewed a footfall of one thousand approximately. The presentation Ceremony started off with the chief guests lighting the lamp which was preceded by the dignitaries expressing their words of wisdom.

Mr. Subrat Behera, CEO, Odisha Cricket Association was the chief guest of the event. He advised students that sports are not just for fun but one should have passion for the same to excel in the field. Mr. Subhranshu Senapati, eminent cricket player, the former captain of Ranji Trophy and Team member of IPL – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was the guest of honour. He enthused students to listen to your inner calling and follow the passion.

This event was also graced by the functionaries of Sri Sri University including, Prof. Dr. B.R. Sharma, Vice Chancellor; Shri Gaurav Verma, Director Operations; Captain Chandrasekhar Panda, Director of Students Affairs; Vijaya Lakshmi Mohanty, Director, HRDC; Mr. Laxamana Sandeep Janyavula, Assistant Professor- FMS; Ar. Rupal Shah, Assistant Professor, Architecture; Dr. Mallay Malla, Deputy Director, Admissions; Mr. Prabhat Naik, Cricket Coach of Sports Council, Mr Uday Bhanu, Volleyball coach, Mr. Banamali, Member of Sports Council etc. The Student Convenors of Sports Council includes Rugvedi Patil, Nitish Kanchakam, P. Anwesh Subuddhi. The ceremony witnessed the Collympics’ presentation along with its achievements and its inspiring history. A Contingent Running Trophy meant for winners of maximum number of gold medals have been conferred to the B.Tech. students from Faculty of Emerging Technologies.

Sri Sri University supports the sporting culture and will soon be hosting its very famous inter-college Sports event Orion Sports named as Shaurya from 23rd January 2023.
