Chandigarh: UILS to host Surana & Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot Court Competition-2010(India North Rounds)
The University Institute of Legal Studies is holding the prestigious Surana & Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot Court Competition-2010 from 3rd Sep to 5th Sep, 2010. About 13 law schools and universities from various parts of India are participating in the competition, they include Amity Law School, Noida, GNLU, Gandhinagar, MATS Law School, Raipur, UPES, Dehradun, NLIU, Bhopal, CNLU, Patna, School Of Law, DAVV, Indore, Law Centre-I, Delhi University Faculty Of Law, UILS, H.P. University Shimla, Baba Farid Law College, Faridkot, RGNLU, Patiala, NUALS, Cochin, AIL, Mohali.
The unique format of trial advocacy moot aims to chisel the advocacy skills including the procedural facets of mooting. The case problem pertains to test the participant’s clarity of the principles of criminal law and the application of Information Technology Act, 2000. The moot problem revolves around cheating, criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy and the use of computer system as an instrument to commit crime.
The competition will be judged by a panel consisting of Hon’ble Judges from Panjab & Haryana High Court, eminent senior advocates and legal luminaries and law professors.
The Valedictory ceremony be held on 5th Sep and presided over by Padma Shri Prof. R. C. Sobti, VC, Panjab University. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajive Bhalla, Judge, Panjab & Haryana High Court has very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour are Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ranjit Singh Randhawa, Judge, Panjab & Haryana High Court, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vinod.K. Sharma, Judge, Panjab & Haryana High Court and Mr. G.K Chathrath, Dean Faculty of Law, Panjab University.
