DLSA Samba organises awareness program on Juvenile Justice Act
SAMBA : Under the aegis of NALSA and as per the Action Plan issued by Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority & for the month of December, 2022 and also under the guidance and supervision of Sonia Gupta, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Samba (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Samba), District Legal Services Authority, Samba today organised an Awareness program on ‘Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015’ here at Government High School Smailpur, Bari Brahamana.
Namisha Rajput, Member of Juvenile Justice Court Samba was the resource person. She highlighted core issues of the subject i.e Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015’’.
Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Samba also addressed the gathering. In the middle of the program, a documentary film on basic aspects of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 was also shown to the students/participants through the projector which was highly appreciated by the school management.
The objective of organizing this awareness camp was to focus on the core topics of Rights and Protection of Children, Categories of Children (Child in Conflict with Law, Child in need of Care and Protection and Child in contact with Law), the role of Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee etc.
During the course of the program students interacted with Secretary DLSA Samba. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, the School Principal presented vote of thanks to the District Legal Services Authority Samba for arranging this awareness camp in the school.
At the end of the program Child Helpline no.1098 was shared with the student participants.
Meanwhile, District Legal Services Authority Samba observed the World Human Rights Day on the theme (2022) ‘’Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All’’ by organizing an Awareness program at Government Higher Secondary School Jakh.
Safeer Hussain, Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority Samba acted as a Resource Person in the program. He deliberated upon the theme and importance of the day that fundamentally plays a role in the promotion, celebration and inspiration of a human being’s rights and makes individuals and our new and next generation conscious of the rights that a human being has and as to how Human rights ethos and values prevailing in Indian culture and tradition have been codified in our ‘’Golden Constitution’’, which also forms part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
He also spoke on as to how every human being is entitled to these rights regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
The vote of thanks was presented by Pardeep Kour, Lecturer Govt. Higher Secondary School Jakh to the gathering. The program was attended by Panel Advocates, staff of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Jakh and Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority Samba.
