Workshop held on dental implants

Aligarh : The department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Dr Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a two-day workshop-cum-hands-on training course on “Dental Implants in Restorative Dentistry”.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the chief guest AMU Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez said that dental implants are of great importance for those who have missing teeth and are shy about their look. He said that dental implants also help in improving speech, comfort and chewing abilities.

AMU Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS), Dean, Faculty of Medicine Prof. M. U. Rabbani and Principal JNMC, Prof. Rakesh Bhargava were also present as guests of honour.

Prof. R.K. Tewari (Principal, ZADC) stressed the need for holding workshops, hands-on courses and guest lecture for the continuous progression of professional development of dentists.

In his welcome address, the organizing chairperson Prof. S.K. Mishra said that the hands-on course will help in the training of postgraduate and undergraduate students in restorative implant dentistry. He said that more than a 100 participants attended the workshop.

Prof. Ajay Logani (AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Lakshya Kumar (KGMU, Lucknow and Prof. U. S. Pal (KGMU, Lucknow) were the resource persons. Prof. Ajay Logani delivered a lecture on “Implant Vs Natural Teeth” while Dr. Lakshya Kumar conducted the hands-on course and Prof. U. S. Pal performed the live surgery.
