Energy Conservation Awareness week
Aligarh: The World Energy Day is celebrated every year on 14th December and in India this day has been declared as National Energy Conservation Day by the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment) aimed at facilitating the shift towards sustainability-launched by India- is now a global movement for conservation.
Promotion of Energy conservation and increased use of renewable energy sources has been an important concern of the AMU under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor Prof TariMansoor. This year Energy Conservation Awareness Week is organised from 12th December. To carry the message of energy conservation and its implementation, energy monitors have been designated in each office/department/hall etc. under the directions of the Vice Chancellor.
For conservation awareness week, a march was organized in the campus from Engineering College to Bab-e-Syed, which was flagged off by Mr. Mohammad Imran, IPS, Registrar AMU. He remarked that all staff members and students to act as save-energy ambassadors and contribute to sustainable development goals.
The Member incharge Prof. Mohd Rihan explained the challenges of financial and environmental concerns of unchecked energy consumption. He emphasized that the conservation campaign needs regular discussion and reminding each other about its importance and the ways to contribute.
On this occasion a pledge recommended by the initiative UP saves energy was also taken by all present in the program.
