National Energy Conservation Day observations at AMU

Aligarh : Various departments, offices and schools of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) continue to spread awareness on cost-efficient energy production and resource conservation with the National Energy Conservation Day observations.

Administering the Energy Conservation Day pledge at the Department of History, Prof Gulfishan Khan (Chairperson) called for a control on the unnecessary energy consumption.

The National Energy Conservation Day was also observed at the Department of Commerce with a week-long programme featuring awareness lectures and a pledge taking ceremony.

Prof Nasir Zamir Qureshi (Dean, Faculty of Commerce) called for promoting energy conservation among the youth through various awareness programmes.

He urged students and faculty members to sensitise people for energy conservation in their families and neighborhood.

Prof S M Imamul Haque (Chairman, Department of Commerce) spoke about target specific ways that can help in energy conservation efforts.

Dr Naghma Azhar highlighted the significance of conserving energy for ensuring optimum utilisation and pressed the need for adopting eco-friendly sources as an alternative to reduce dependency on environment depletive resources.

Similarly at the AMU City Girls High School, Dr MD Alamgir (Principal) read the Energy Conservation pledge to the staff members and stressed on the collective responsibility of all citizens to conserve energy.

School teacher, Sahar Naqvi delivered a talk on ‘ways to conserve energy’, while students presented a skit to raise awareness.

A special assembly was held at the AMU ABK School-Girls in which Dr Saba Hasan (Vice Principal) explained the importance of mass awareness on energy efficiency and conservation to students.

She urged students to engage their families in the campaign and talked about how energy conservation awareness is also carried through online platforms.

Dr Saba also informed about plans to conduct an awareness rally.
