Team JSR 111 wins Law Society Moot Court

Aligarh : Team JSR 111 members Ayush Mudgal, Princi Bhardwaj and Khushi Tomar won the ‘Professor Hafeezul Rahman Intra-Faculty Moot Court Competition 2022’ of the Moot Court Cell, Law Society, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) finishing ahead of the runner-up, JSR 101 team with Syed Qutbi Raza and Nomaan Quasim as members.

The panel of judges comprising Ujjwal Sinha (Advocate, Supreme Court), Faham Ahmed Khan (President, Cambridge University Graduate Law Society) and Aman Alam (Legal Researcher, Chamber of Justice Krishna Murari, Supreme Court) announced the results of December 10 after hearing arguments of all the participants in the Moot Court, mirroring real-life court proceedings.

Team JSR 11 comprising Aditya Bhattacharya, Bhumika Mittal and Mohd Bilal got the Best Memorial Award; Fatima Zainab was declared the Best Researcher and Kunal Sharma won the Best Speaker award.

In the valedictory function, Prof Mohammad Tariq (In-charge, Law Society) said: “Mooting is a great way for law students to develop confidence, speaking, writing skills and research acumen. It is intellectually rewarding and stimulating for budding lawyers”.

Law Society members Akash Varshney (Vice President), Sohaib Akhtar (Secretary), Raza Haider Zaidi, Anas Siddiqui, AnubhavVashishtha, Shahid Ali Siddique and Imran Amir, Syed Fazal-ur Rahman Niazi, Syed Ahmad Nawaz Zaidi, Yuvraj Singh, Eshan Agarwal, Lyba Fatima, Ilsa Israil and Mohd Umam Siddiqui conducted the programme.

In the two-day competition, student teams arbitrated and analysed hypothetical criminal law problems and prepared submissions and oral arguments based on relevant law.
