Make efforts to cover all potential youth under self-employment programs: DC Anantnag to officers
ANANTNAG : A meeting was held here under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom to review the implementation of various employment generation schemes in the district.
Officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, Employment, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, KVIB and KVIC presented their achievement under various schemes.
Addressing the officers, Dr Basharat said that engaging youth in productive self-employment opportunities to create sustainable livelihood for themselves as well as jobs for other unemployed youth is a priority of the Govt. He said that departments will have to make special efforts to identify all such potential youth.
He also stressed on holding awareness camps in various parts of the district regarding various Govt Schemes in vogue and the prospects available the youth.
Taking note of gaps between applied and sanctioned cases, the chair directed all departments to ensure that pendency is cleared in the next 15 days and reasons outlined for any to delay in processing of cases.
Presenting their progress, AD Employment said that 1590 youth have been provided financial assistance under PMEGP program. KVIB has sanctioned 268 cases while KVIC has sanctioned 627 cases in the district. Similarly, officials from Horticulture said that 33 hectares have been covered under the High Density Plantation scheme.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, while presenting the progress in the dairy sector, said that under schemes like IPDS, ABDP, etc, more than 220 dairy units have been established in the district. He said that 8 milking machines have been distributed among beneficiaries so far. He said they plan to setup 25 dairy units in tribal areas.
The meeting was attended by JD Planning, LDM, CAO, CHO, CAHO, DSHO, AD Fisheries, AD Employment, officials from KVIB and KVIC among others.
