Orientation programme in Functional English
ALIGARH : The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension (CCAEE), Aligarh Muslim University organized an orientation programme in “Functional English”.
Congratulating students on being selected for the course, the chief guest, Prof Mohammad Asim Siddiqui (Chairperson, Department of English) said that one should try to learn something new every day and English language skills can be developed by watching different type of programmes on television or online.
Prof Aysha Munira Rasheed (Deputy Director, CCAEE) said that language learning exercise promotes understanding of other cultures and also helps get better jobs. Hence, learners must use the opportunity to the fullest through which they are able to connect with the students.
Prof Rashid Nehal said that one must first get rid of hesitation while trying to speak a new language.
Dr. Shamim Akhtar (Associate Professor, CCAEE) urged the students to always behave gentlemanly and be disciplined. He said students should attend awareness programmes organized by the centre to learn newer values.
The participants of the Workshop on “Spoken English” held during September 26-30 were given certificates.
The programme, attended by 70 students, concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Dr Shamim Akhtar.
