Kathua Students shine in UT Level Kala Utsav 2022-23; Clinch top 6 positions

KATHUA : As per the initiative of the Department of Education, Govt of India to explore the talent among the 9th to class 12 students in different fields of Art and Music, a three day UT level Kala Utsav 2022-23 Competition was held in Teachers’ Bhawan Jammu from 14-16 December 2022.

The event was organised by Samagra Shiksha J&K in which students from Kathua Distt bagged 6 first positions and 2 second positions out of 20 and was declared overall champion.

The competition was held in 10 different art forms in male and female categories – Vocal Music (Classical), Vocal Music (folk), Instrumental Music (Percussion), Instrumental Music (Melody), Dance (Classical), Dance (Traditional), Visual Art (2D), Visual Art (3d), Traditional Toys and Games and in Solo Acting category in which 40 winners of previously held divisional level participated.

The winners had been chosen following a grueling competition held at school level, zonal level, district level and divisional level. The event witnessed competitions among 40 contestants, 20 each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

The event was graced with the presence of many dignitaries including, Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary Education Department, Dr, Ravi Shankar, Director of School Education, Jammu, Deep Raj, SPD, Manisha Sarin, Secretary, JKBOSE, and Suraj Singh, CEO, Jammu among others. The event was also attended by teachers, students and the general public in large numbers.

District Kathua managed to secure 6 first positions & 2 second positions in various categories, bringing home top overall position among the districts.

The winners of first positions from district Kathua in different categories were Sahil Kumar from GHSS Nagri Parole (Classical Vocal-M); Bharti from GHSS Budhi (Traditional Vocal-F); Vishal Kumar from GHS Panyalag (Traditional Dance-M); Heena from GGHSS Kathua (Classical Dance-F); Rahul from GHSS Nagri Parole (Solo Acting Drama-M) and Ahana from Army Public School Jangalote (Instrumental Melodic-F).

The winners of this phase will be competing in the national level competition going to be held in Orissa next month. It is worth mentioning that one of the teams including 8 winner participants and two escort teachers from Zone Bani have left today to participate in the National Balrang Festival being held at Bhopal.

Chief Education Officer Kathua, P.L Thapa, has congratulated all the winners and wished them best of luck for the next phase of the competition. He said that it was all due to the endless efforts put in by the mentors and the support given by the respective Heads of the Institutions. He congratulated and appreciated all the stakeholders including the team of DICC, ZICCs and all the SICCs. He specially appreciated the efforts by Ms. Monika Khosla, DICC and Mr Pawan Vivek, DRG Kathua for bringing such success in the event. He thanked the worthy Director of School Education, Jammu division and the Cultural Cell, DSEJ for providing such a platform for our students to showcase their talent.
