Re-Think: Ready-to-wear Fashion Collection by Students of Sharda University
Delhi : Sharda University, a leading Educational institution based in Greater Noida, encourages students to showcase their creativity by providing them hands-on experience in the industry and motivate them to participate in different competitions. This year the students of School of Design showcased their collection on one of the biggest fashion platforms by unveiling their designs at the Delhi Times India Showcase Week 2020. It was a 2 days event from Jan 18th to Jan 19th, 2020 at DLF Promenade, Vasant Kunj. The collection was entirely curated and designed by 15 students of 3rd year, School of Design based on the theme ” Re-Think: Ready to wear Fashion”. The young designers went beyond the boundaries and created sustainable apparel by converting old materials into the new ones. The ensembles blended beautiful colours, mixtures and patterns altogether to give ready-to-wear fashion collection. The event drew a huge crowd and the eminent fashion designers and experts present at the show highly praised the young designers for their striking collection.
The fashion industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world that has gone through several changes over the years. The industry which is accountable for generating large amount of industrial waste is now focusing on the sustainable and eco-friendly move. Hence, to endorse the same the students came up with the ultimate new collection. Re-Think is a curated collection of classroom projects, recreating Ready-to-wear Fashion with the spirit of current times by designers of future. The colours of shadow & acidic pop express the intolerance of the time splattered with energetic, layered & complex treatments focusing on change. A change that is environmentally & socially sustainable and built using looks that can be easily revamped with materials that are recycled, reworked or biodegradable. There were 24-26 stunning outfits which were designed and showcased by the young and future designers.
Explaining the concept of Re-Think, Prof. Rupinder Singh,Dean, SAP, Sharda University said ” The designs curated by the students are absolutely commendable based on research, hard-work and creativity. The initiative was taken by the students which emphasized on sustainability through fashion. It is a huge opportunity for our students to present their work at a larger platform giving them a big leap in their education curve as well as industrial visibility in turn increasing both their employment and entrepreneur opportunities.”
The students were personally mentored by Associate Professor Ankita S Pandey, Assistant Professor Vasundhra Saluja, Mr. Jitender Lal, Head of Department of Designand Dean Prof. Rupinder Singh, Department of Design at School of Architecture & Planning along with other noted personalities from fashion world.
