Cornell University Provost Michael I. Kotlikoff has approved the promotions of Vanessa Bohns, Christopher Collins and Lisa Nishii to the rank of full professor.

“All three of these faculty members have produced outstanding scholarship and are excellent teachers and mentors for our students,” said Alexander Colvin, Ph.D. ’99, ILR’s Kenneth F. Kahn ’69 Dean and the Martin F. Scheinman ’75, MS ’76, Professor of Conflict Resolution.

Bohns studies help-seeking, social influence, compliance, consent and why it’s so hard to say no. She is author of “You Have More Influence Than You Think,” which draws from her research showing that people often fail to recognize their influence, resulting in missed opportunities and misuse of power. She is a member of the editorial boards of the “Journal of Personality,” “Social Psychology” and “Social Cognition.”

Collins, director of ILR Graduate Studies, Collins teaches, conducts research and consults in the areas of strategic human resource management, the role of HR practices and leadership in driving employee engagement, and the role of HR in driving firm innovation and knowledge creation.

Nishii, who serves the university as the vice provost for undergraduate education, is an expert on inclusion in organizations. Her research focuses on the confluence of organizational practices, leadership behaviors and climate for inclusion on individual- and group-level outcomes.
