AICTE launches SWAYAM Online Credit Courses on Yoga, IP and Basics of Remote Sensing for SWAYAM MOOCs Platform
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)has launched Four(4) SWAYAM Yoga Online Credit Courses developed by S-VYASA, Bangalore.Prof.TG Sitharam launched the online course in the presence of Dr. H.R. Nagendra, President & Chancellor of the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthan. He also launched an online credit course on Intellectual Property (IP) developed by MoE Innovation Cell under the leadership of Dr.AbhayJere and another online credit course on “Basics of Remote Sensing, GIS & GNSS Technology and their Applications” developed by IIRS, Dehradun in the presence of Dr. R.P. Singh, Director, ISRO, Dehradun.
TG Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE, during the launch event, said, “AICTE offers comprehensive fundamental & advanced training, as well as post-certificate online course on how to approach yoga as a profession or business venture. We are also trying to bolster the opportunities in the field of Yogaprenuership to make a good career option out of it. Every Soul has the ability to be divine. The purpose of life is to govern both internal and external nature in order to reveal this divinity inside. If you do it through work, worship, philosophy, or psychic control, you will be free. We have embraced the broadened definition of yoga based on this, which includes 2 streams: Yoga Jnana and Bhakti. Other than Yoga, AICTE is also offering online courses for Intellectual Property and Fundamentals of Remote Sensing.”
Dr. Ramesh Unnikrishanan, Advisor, SWAYAM Cell in his welcome address greeted all the Course Coordinators for putting their sustained efforts to develop very useful online credit courses for SWAYAM.
Dr. M.P. Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE addressing the Course Coordinators appreciated the development of Yoga and other Credit Courses for SWAYAM and motivated the Course Coordinators to come ahead for development of similar other Courses for SWAYAM. He said, “The online course will introduce participants to the fundamentals of remote sensing, earth observation sensors and platforms, thermal remote sensing, spectral signatures of various land cover features, visual image interpretation, and hyperspectral remote sensing technologies. Other digital image processing techniques covered in the course include Image Rectification and Registration, Image Enhancement, Image Classification, and Accuracy Assessment. Following the theoretical notions comes a practical demonstration utilising open-source software.
Prof.Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE while inaugurating the above Six (6) online credit courses being developed by Experts in their respective fields also emphasized the need for translation of these courses into Twelve different Indian Regional Languages so that it reaches to all and sundry for best use through SWAYAM and we are able to increase the Gross Enrolment Ration in higher education upto 50% in terms of NEP-2020.”
