CM sets record of opening postal saving accounts for 6882 widows at Mahila Sammelan at Gondal
Gondal: Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today categorically stated that the state government is determined to guard the self-respect, pride, and upliftment of the women. He was speaking at an inaugural function of Mahila Sammelan jointly organized by the Women and Child Welfare Department and Rajkot District Administration as a part of the state level main Republic Day celebrations on the eve of Republic-Day at Gondal town, near Rajkot, today.
The Chief Minister proudly further stated that the state government has taken care of health of 30-lakh poor women by extending benefits of ‘Ujjwala Yojana’ to them. ‘We are taking care of the girl child right from her prenatal days to dowry at marriage. We are determined to ensure that the women and young-girls feel safe and secure in Gujarat and get their dreams fulfilled.’
With a view to provide respectful living to widower women throughout their lives, we have abolished the limit of giving financial assistance to them up to only the age of her children getting adulthood, Mr. Rupani said and added that prior to this change, the benefits of the scheme was availed only to 11,700 widows but under the new rules the scheme covers another 9,000 widower women. To extend the same benefits to other women, all the district collectors have been instructed to organized camps at district level.
The state government has taken measures to ensure the stern punitive actions against the criminals involved in the serious crimes against young girls and women, seven years imprisonment in the cases of chain snatching, and implemented several schemes offering prompt assistance to women against harassment, loan assistance to women and educational assistance to young girls, the Chief Minister said.
To success the Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi’s ‘Swachhta Campaign’, Gujarat has made lion share contribution by building 40-lakh toilets, so far. In addition to these, the state government has also sanctioned to build 4-lakh more toilets to meet the existing requirements.
Mr. Rupani also launched the logo of ‘Vahali Dikari Yojana’ at the BAPS temple at Gondal.
As a part of their joint campaign in Rajkot, the district administration and Women and Child Welfare Department of Gujarat Government had opened up a record number of 6882 postal saving accounts for the widower women. The record was noted by the ‘India Book’ and a certificate of it was handed over by the representative of ‘India Book’ Mrs. Neelima Chhajad to Ms. Remya Mohan, district collector of Rajkot, in the presence of Mr. Rupani. Mr. Ashok Kumar, the Chief Post Master General, Gujarat Circle, was also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister had also taken blessings from Kothari Swami Shree Divya Purush Das Swami of BAPS.
Others who spoke on the occasion included, Ms Remya Mohan, DDO Mr. Anil Ranavasiya, and others.
The event was also graced by Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of Education and in-charge of Rajkot District, Water Supply Minister Mr. Kunwarjibhai Bavaliya, MLA Mr. Geetaba Jadeja, Ex-MLA Jairajsinh Jadeja, District BJP President – Mr. D K Sakhiya, and others.
