To help form the next generation of women technology leaders, the Technovation Summer School for Girls , an initiative of USP’s Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences (ICMC), in São Carlos, is looking for volunteers who will help in the development of projects of the young participants, who will be challenged to create an application. Entirely online and free, the summer school will provide the opportunity, in the 2023 edition, for 60 girls from public and private schools across Brazil, aged 8 to 18, to acquire new knowledge in the areas of computing and entrepreneurship.

To become a mentor, it is enough to be an undergraduate or graduate student, a professional in the field of education or work in areas such as technology, engineering, business, communication and entrepreneurship, for example. In addition, you must be over 18 years old and available to remotely monitor the work of one of the teams that will be formed during the summer school. Communication will take place via messaging applications such as WhatsApp and through online meetings, according to the needs of each group. Volunteers should also participate in online meetings.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the initiative must be willing to learn and positively impact the lives of girls, helping to overcome obstacles during the creation of applications. It is not necessary, but recommended, to have some experience in the technology field.
