University of Bremen students present eight innovative practical solutions
University students presented innovative solutions for Bremen companies and institutions. The practice partners included the Employment Agency, hanseWasser and TOPAS Industriemathematik Innovation. The “Demo Day” took place in the Campus Space of the Sparkasse.
The innovation solutions were developed by 37 students as part of the “Digital Innovation Projects” course. They were intensively supported by the lecturer Leon Marquardt and the tutor Silke Melzer-Counen in regular coaching sessions. The practice partners this year were the Bremen-Bremerhaven Employment Agency, ATS Buntentor e. V., hanseWasser GmbH, the V office at the Senator for Finance, Sparkasse Bremen AG and TOPAS Industriemathematik Innovation gGmbH.
future concepts bremen (fcb) is an innovative teaching format. It brings students and practice partners together. Teams from different disciplines develop business model innovations in 100 days with non-profit, public and private organizations. fcb implements the basic idea of research-based learning and supports the transfer of knowledge and technology to business and society. The cooperation between scientists, practice partners and students regularly results in innovative business models, which are then often implemented.
Great interest from practice partners in business model innovations by students
“In 2017 we broke new ground with the practical projects at our chair – with great success. The students and practice partners were and are enthusiastic. A variety of innovative business models have been developed and implemented so far. A new edition every semester is practically mandatory for us,” says Professor Dr. Jörg Freiling, Chair of SMEs, Business Start-ups and Entrepreneurship (LEMEX) in Faculty 7 of Economics at the University of Bremen. “We always want to give our students the opportunity to put the methodological knowledge they have acquired during their studies into practice, expand their soft skills and develop personally. At the same time, this also includes getting a taste of different professional fields, which is good for career orientation.
future concepts bremen are carried out by the Chair for SMEs, Business Start-ups and Entrepreneurship (LEMEX) at the University of Bremen and are initiated and funded by the Senator for Economics, Labor and Europe.
