International conference concludes

ALIGARH  : Priyanka Saha won the first prize for best oral presentations while Divyalaxmi Saini and Dr. Rahul, respectively won the second and third prizes. Prof. Mohammad Afzal distributed the prizes for the best oral presentations.

Similarly, Samar Mahmood was judged first in the best poster presentation event, while Himanshi Varshney and Nidhi Sharma were given the second and third prizes, respectively. Prof. Mukhtar Ahmad Khan gave away prizes for the best poster presentations.

The first, second and third prize winners in the events were given US$150, 125 and 100, respectively, as the prize money.

First prize for the best oral presentation in the postgraduate students’ category went to Humaira Maryam and the second prize went to Samrah Zaki Ansari. Third prize was shared by Bushra Zia and Fatima Kamil.

Dr. Birajalaxmi Das (Secretary, EMSI) gave the prizes while Prof. Nandjee Kumar (Vice President, EMSI) felicitated the Best Published Paper Awards winners.

The prizes sponsored by the Elsevier were given in the valedictory programme of the three-day 45th International Conference on “Environmental Mutagenesis and Toxicogenomics: Human Health Perspectives”, organized by the Environmental Mutagen Society of India (EMSI) at the Department of Zoology, Aligarh Muslim University.

The conference was conducted in hybrid mode, with many online lectures, especially by scientists and academics from Japan, USA, UK, Egypt, Spain, and Serbia, apart from India-based scientists. In addition, scientists from Germany, Austria and Croatia attended the conference in person.

The Organizing Secretary, Dr. Yasir Hasan Siddique said that about 33 invited talks, along with 30 oral presentations and 50 poster presentations, were presented during the conference.

He said that the EMSI Executive Committee meeting was also held on the first day of the conference while a “Workshop on Genotoxicity Assays” was held on the second day, which was conducted by Dr. Ravi R Kristipati and Dr. Alok K Pandey.
