Lecture organized under Aligs’ Academic Enrichment Programme
ALIGARH : Dr Kohkan Shamsi (Founder, RadMD LLC, USA, Principal of Blinded Reader and Investigator Training Institute (BRITI), USA, and Adjunct Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University) delineated fundamentals of drug development and clinical trials with special reference to US-FDA and ICH guidelines. He explained the four phases of CTs and how to submit New Drug Applications (NDA) in Europe, Japan and in the USA.
He was delivering a lecture at JNMC, organized by the Aligs’ Academic Enrichment Programme (AAEP), Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with Aligarh Medical Alumni Association of North America (AMAANA).
Dr Kohkan, who has been involved in clinical development and NDA submissions that led to the approvals of 9 MRI, 3 CT contrast agents and 5 radiopharmaceuticals, expressed willingness to contribute to start a centre of excellence for clinical trial at JNMC.
In her lecture, Dr Tazeen Beg (Division Chief, NORA, Stony Brook Medicine, USA), who is also an alumnus of JN Medical College, discussed the relevance and challenges in the development of Non-Operating Room Anaesthesia (NORA).
She focused on the evidence-based strategies related to the safety of patients in the Endoscopy Unit and other NORA areas and shared her experience during the Covid-19 as part of the Airway Team for intubating the Covid patients.
In her presidential remarks, Prof. Veena Maheshwari (Dean, Faculty of Medicine) appreciated the AAEP and AMAANA for organizing such programmes that would help residents and consultants at JNMC.
JNMC Principal and CMS, Prof. Rakesh Bhargava welcomed the guest speakers.
Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman (Coordinator, AAEP) briefed about the activities of AAEP. Dr. Pragya Hangma conducted the programme and Dr. Anam Alam extended the vote of thanks.
