PM Narendra Modi inaugurates HAL’s biggest helicopter plant in Tumkuru, Karnataka; Says HAL is playing important role in making India ‘Atmanirbhar’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched various development programmes in Tumkuru after inaugurating the country’s biggest helicopter manufacturing plant here in Karnataka.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Prime Minister said that the double-engine government at the centre and the state has increased the pace of development in Karnataka. He further added that the recent Budget announcements have reinforced the roots that will transform India into a developed country by 2047. He pointed out that India today manufactures assault rifles for aircraft carriers within the country and our armed forces are given weapons and equipment made in India.

He said, the doors have been opened for the Private sector to contribute to defence production. He took on the opposition for their false allegations against the Government, which he said provoked people by saying that HAL is being weakened. He said that today HAL is playing an important role in making India Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

The setting up of the Helicopter manufacturing unit of HAL in Tumkuru will help the growth of auxiliary units around the town, and generate employment and small and medium industries will thrive.

On setting up of the Industrial township in Tumkuru, the Prime Minister said that this will be part of the Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru Hyderabad industrial corridor. Speaking at length on the Union Budget announced recently, the Prime Minister said that the Jal Jeevan allocation is increased by 20,000 crore rupees to ensure tap water in rural areas, Vishwakarma scheme will empower the artisans and strengthen their hands with new skills, towards housing for the poor, a sum of 70,000crore rupees is allocated, the middle class are given tax benefits on their income, retired employees deposit limit has been increased from 15 to 30 lakh ensuring higher monthly revenue, the private sector employees leave encashment benefit has been enhanced, and a number of schemes are introduced for women empowerment and Self Help groups have been supported financially.

Small farmers will benefit from the announcement to build godowns and millets have been given new impetus, he said. The budget he assured will give a fillip to the rural economy. The Prime minister said that the Nation’s first policy of his Government has placed the country on a strong footing from where it will grow into Atma Nirbhar Bharat.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India Energy Week 2023 at Bengaluru in Karnataka today. The three-day event is aimed at showcasing India’s rising prowess as an energy transition powerhouse. Speaking at the event, Prime Minister urged global investors to explore investment opportunities in India’s energy sector. Mr Modi said, India is one of strongest voices in the world in energy transition. He said, the government is working on mission mode to increase natural gas consumption in India’s energy mix by 2030. Prime Minister said, India has fourth-largest crude refining capacity in the world.

He said, India’s gas pipeline network will expand to 35,000 km in the next four-five years from 22,000 km at present. Prime Minister said, no-go area for oil and gas exploration has been reduced by 10 lakh square kilometres. Mr Modi said India is moving towards the target of 20 per cent ethanol blending with petrol. Prime Minister said, another sector in which India is taking lead in the world is that of green hydrogen. He said, National Green Hydrogen Mission will give a new direction to 21st-century India. Prime Minister also launched the twin-cooktop model of the Indian Oil’s Indoor Solar Cooking System and flagged off its commercial roll-out.

Mr Modi said, the solar cooktop launched today is going to give a new dimension to Green and Clean Cooking in India. He said, circular economy, in a way, is a part of the lifestyle of every Indian. PM said, crores of people have come out of poverty and entered middle class. He said India has become the second-largest producer of mobile phones.
