Somaiya Vidyavihar University to host All-India Squash Tournament (Men & Women) 2022-23

Mumbai : The Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi has entrusted Somaiya Vidyavihar University with the responsibility to organize the All India Inter University Squash (Men & Women) Tournament 2022-23.

The tournament is set to begin on 14th February, 2023 and will conclude with the finals being played on 17th February, 2023. All the matches will be played at the newly built Eklavya Sports Complex for Somaiya Sports Academy at Somaiya Vidyavihar University (SVU), Mumbai.

A total of 26 Men’s University teams and 21 Women’s University teams will be participating in the tournament.

Mr. Aazaz Khan, Director, Somaiya Sports Academy, SVU, says, “We are honoured that the Somaiya Sports Academy has been entrusted with the responsibility of hosting a prestigious competition such as the All India Inter University Squash (Men & Women) Tournament for the year 2022-23. I would like to thank the AIU for this opportunity. Squash as a sport is really exciting and challenging at the same time; and certainly deserves more recognition. I am proud that we at SVU got a chance to host this tournament and our team is working really hard to make this tournament a success.”

AIU thinks that sports play an important role in the development of an integrated personality for the youth, including – Body, Mind and Spirit. Accordingly, active participation of university students in competitive sports generates a spirit of healthy competition in daily life too. It is therefore necessary that the university youth of the country need to be brought together on a “National Platform” through the media of sports and physical activities with a view to channelize youthful energy into constructive directions, as a nation building process.
