National Science Day observed

ALIGARH  : Mohammad Muaz, a research scholar, won the prize for the best model presentation while Rizwana Yasmin (M.Tech.) got the best poster award during a programme organized by the Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre (INC), Aligarh Muslim University, to mark the National Science Day on February 28.

In the Quiz competition, Shubham Jaiswal emerged as the winner while Mohd Kamran Khan was declared the runner-up.

Presenting an overview of the importance of the day, Dr Mohd Azhar Aziz, Director of the centre, said that the day is observed to pay tribute to the great Indian physicist, Sir C V Raman who earned a Nobel prize for his distinguished work “Raman Effect”.

He highlighted the activities of the centre and urged the students to participate in the events with enthusiasm and help popularize science among the masses.

Research scholars and postgraduate students gave a brief talk on Nobel prizes given in year 2022 in Physics, Chemistry and Medicine.

Prof. Absar Ahmad motivated students to do innovative research in science and bring laurels to the university. He also gave away prizes and certificates to the winners of the competitive events.

Dr Swaleha Naseem and Dr Syed Afzal Ahmad were the conveners of the programme.

Meanwhile, Dr Mariyam Fatima of Department of Home Science, AMU got the “Rashtriya Dr C V Raman Ratna Award” for the best guide and supervisor in home science, while Dr Iram Aslam won the award for best research topic, “Factors influencing food preferences and its effect on nutritional status among adolescents”, at a science day related commemorative programme, organized by All India Council for Productive Education Research and Training, in association with Al-Hidayah College of Education, Aligarh, informed Prof Farzana Alim, Chairperson, Department of Home Science.
