I&B Secretary launches language websites of AIR News in Tamil, Assamese, Dogri
New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Secretary Ravi Mital launched the language websites of AIR News in Tamil, Assamese and Dogri on Friday.
He launched these websites during the National Conference of Regional News Units of AIR News in New Delhi today. Speaking on this occasion, Mr Mital said, that efforts must be made to improve the quality of AIR News to stop the migration of audience to other medium.
He suggested that there should be useful interaction with the listeners, advertisers and different RNUs for better coordination and efficiency. The Secretary said, this kind of conference should be held on regular basis.
Principal Director General Ira Joshi said that AIR News is known for providing accurate news and it is playing important role in information dissemination.
She said that Regional News Units have done a great job during the calamities and these units helped the people and administration by providing the accurate information at the time of crisis. She informed that AIR News is in the process of launching of 24X7 FM News channels.
Member Finance of Prasar Bharati Rajeev Singh said that AIR News provides accurate and genuine news in local languages in a cost-effective manner.
He said that Radio is playing an important role in providing information in the remotest areas. He suggested that synergy between Doordarshan and AIR must be improved to increase the effectiveness of these media.
At this juncture, the Information and Broadcasting Secretary also interacted with the representatives of 46 RNUs and Foreign Correspondents during the conference. The two-day conference was organized to deliberate upon the best practices to highlight the programmes and policies of government.
On the second day of the National Conference today, presentations on Netia software, operationalization of website and News on AIR app were given by the officials. Afterwards, Additional Director General Akash Luxman and Dr Atul Tiwary addressed the grievances of Regional News Units.
The Foreign Correspondents shared their experience related to Mobile Journalism. They urged all the representatives to integrate usage of new technologies for making the medium of information dissemination more effective.
