Indian Talent Wins Big at Brilliant Talent Discovery Awards, Singapore

 

Brilliant Talent Discovery Awards held in Singapore in January 2020 saw the participation of top young amateur musicians from across various countries like the USA, Poland, Australia, Japan, UK, France, Russia & many South East Asian countries like India, Singapore etc. Seven exceptional students from FSM participated in the solo category.

Six students from Furtados School of Music won at the international competition:
• Uneysah Agboatwala (Piano) – SILVER in the Young Musicians category
• Shivin Shirodkar (Guitar) – SILVER in the Junior category
• Alaina Verma (Female voice) – BRONZE in the Junior category
• Marcelo Fernandes (Percussion, drums) – SILVER in the Intermediate category
• Kiara Phillip (Female voice) – BRONZE in the Emerging category
• Aditya Jha (Guitar) – BRONZE in the Senior category

A panel of judges empanelled by BTDA evaluated video entries submitted by participants, and the final selection of winners was adjudged by them. The panel consists of internationally recognized artists and professors of various music academies and conservatories.

“Music as a career and education field is still growing and making its place in India. Our students being facilitated at a global platform like BTDA helps give music a great push in the industry. The benefits of music are multi-fold and we plan on continuing our journey of providing quality music education across the country” said Dharini Upadhyaya, Co-Founder & Co-CEO, Furtados School of Music.

Further, Abhishek Shah, Head Training & ASQ added, “It’s a proud moment for FSM and our students, their talent and hard work has been recognized at an international platform. The journey of the students and teachers has been incredible and such platforms help us in placing our talent on the global front”.

The winning students are invited to attend the Award Ceremony & Gala Concert at the iconic Esplanade, Theatres by the Bay in Singapore in April 2020. They will be felicitated at the ceremony there.

Having been felicitated at the ceremony at Singapore, Sheetal Shirodkar, mother of one of the winning participant, Shivin Shirodkar expressed her thoughts by saying, “Music creates magic in many ways. Its has been proven that learning a musical instrument sharpens the brain, improving focus, better expression of emotions, coping with stress and enhances and develops creativity. I am really happy with my child’s journey at FSM and the various platforms where he has got to perform has helped Shivin immensely not only to build self confidence but improve his playing skills.”
