Report Shows Interest Growth Of Foreign Youth Interest In Studies In Russia

The results of the Open Doors International Olympiad for foreign Master’s and PhD students have been announced. The Olympiad is organized by the Association of Global Universities in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudichestvo).

1,700 foreign participants became winners of the Olympiad. They will get the right to study in Russia free of charge under the quota of the Government of the Russian Federation for foreign citizens. The total number of students participating in the Olympiad was 78,000 from 196 countries.

The PhD track also attracted attention. About 28,000 participants took part. Three hundred of them became winners.

The Olympiad is divided into 14 profiles. The most popular among the foreign participants of the Olympiad are the profiles “Business and Management”, “Engineering and Technology”, “Computer and Data Science”. The top 3 most sought-after subjects chosen by the participants are Financial Management, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, International Relations.

The regular survey shows that the participants of the Olympiad consider education and research in Russia along with education in Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, China, USA, which are traditionally attractive for applicants.
