RMIT Grads Represent Well At PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival Graduate Showcase
RMIT alumni were on show in this year’s PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival Graduate Showcase, making up seven out of ten graduates featured.
The National Graduate Showcase event held at Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building featured the top ten designers hand-picked from Australia’s leading fashion design institutions, following a nation-wide selection process.
Newly appointed Dean of RMIT’s School of Fashion and Textiles, Professor Alice Payne, said she was delighted to see such strong representation of RMIT in the national showcase.
“It’s a testament to the strength of our programs, which foster brave and creative thinking with a commitment to technical excellence,” Payne said.
“Our students are remarkable practitioners and I’m sure they would agree that the support of all the staff and their peers helps create an environment where they can thrive.”
Meet the designers
Featured designer, Beibei Li, completed her Bachelor of Fashion (Design) (Honours) at RMIT in 2022 and has since decided to pursue a Master of Fashion (Design) as she works towards a career in fashion.
Her featured collection, ‘Spirituality’, blurs the boundaries between clothing and sculpture.
“Through design, I’m exploring the structure of non-traditional clothing, and combining it with digital printing to enrich the mood of sculptural structure in garments,” she said.
The unique print expression implies an immersive experience of self-awareness in the inner world.”

“The phrase ‘spirituality’ is associated with purity, clarity, peacefulness and transparency. To reflect this, the patterns I use are taken mainly from what I see and feel during my daily meditation practice,” she said.
The other RMIT graduates featured in the showcase were:
Kritikon Khamsawat
Qinxuan Wu
Yiwei Ju
Yiran Zhou
