University of Mannheim observes Girls’ Day

In order to motivate schoolgirls to take up technical and scientific professions, Girls’ Day is held in Germany every year in April. This year, two institutions at the University of Mannheim are taking part with an extensive program: In the university IT, schoolgirls can learn to program, find out more about IT and information security and visit the university’s server room, among other things. At the Faculty of Business Informatics and Business Mathematics, for example, they decode secret languages, learn more about artificial intelligence and learn how math can help with their daily decisions. The offer is aimed at schoolgirls in the 5th to 13th grade. Girls, trans* girls and children who consider themselves neither girls nor boys are cordially invited. The participants are exempt from school on this day and receive a certificate for their participation. Prior registration via the following websites is required to participate.
