Shaheed Sarfraz Memorial Cricket Tournament concludes at Ramban
RAMBAN : Lagan Cricket Club today won the final match of Shaheed Sarfraz Memorial Cricket Tournament by defeating Hamdard Cricket Club and lifted the trophy and a cash prize of Rs 20000.
Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam was the Chief Guest, whereas, SSP Ramban Mohita Sharma was the guest of honour.
Commandant, IRP 16th Battalion, Ramban Pawan Parihar, Dy. Commandant Reyaz Iqbal Tantray, besides Dy.SP Anu Sharma, Dy.SP Ashok Kumar and other members of NGOs were also present on the occasion.
As many as 34 teams from different parts of the district Ramban participated in Shaheed Sarfraz Memorial Cricket Tournament 2022-23 which was organized by IPR 16th Battalion under the Civic Action Programme at IRP Headquarters.
Winner Trophies and cash prize of Rs. 20,000 was given to the winner and the runner-up was given a trophy and Rs. 10,000.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner said that the youth of Ramban district are talented in every field of sports and the District Administration, Ramban is trying its best to use their talent for the UT and the country. He lauded the role of the organizing committee for conducting such a big cricket tournament with discipline.
The DC said that with the help of the sports council various outdoor and indoor sports facilities are coming up in Ramban district. He also informed that the district administration has also identified the patch nearly 50 kanal at Neera for the stadium.
While educating the youth the Deputy Commissioner said that drug abuse is a serious problem that not only affects individuals but also families and communities as well. He emphasized that sports persons are role models as they encourage others to be part of positive activities and send a message to stay away from drugs.
The DC also reiterated that the District Administration Ramban is committed to create a drug-free environment in the district and will continue to take all necessary steps to achieve this goal.
