University of Bremen puts exhibition on science foundations
To make the remarkable commitment of the people of Bremen to science and education visible and to appreciate it – this is the aim of the University of Bremen Foundation with the exhibition “MACHT SINN!”. From April 13, 2023 it can be seen on the university campus.
The exhibition will be on display in the multi-purpose high-rise at Bibliothekstrasse 5 until June 30, 2023. Based on ten topics, it presents ten personalities – researchers, students, donors – and their funding projects at the University of Bremen, thus showing the connection between research, funding and foundations. At the same time, outstanding projects by researchers at the University of Bremen are presented, which, with the support of foundations, make a contribution to overcoming societal challenges and have an impact on urban society. With the project, the people and motivations behind the foundations and research projects become visible and audible. MAKES SENSE! is cross-media: For deeper insights, QR codes lead to podcasts and project presentations.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on April 13 at 12 noon in the foyer of the multi-purpose high-rise building at the university. A welcome and introduction by the University Chancellor and Foundation Board Member Frauke Meyer will be followed by a discussion with researchers and donors.
The exhibition book
A book has been published by OPEN SPACE to accompany the exhibition . Under the title “MACHT SENSE! Donations for Science” brings together ten portraits of researchers and donors in the first part. The second part presents the Bremen foundations that are currently supporting the University of Bremen, as well as the projects that have been implemented with the support of foundations. The two parts are introduced with greetings from Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen – himself a donor – and Dr. Christine Backhaus (Foundation House Bremen).
The following people are portrayed in the book and in the exhibition: Professor Rolf Drechsler, former Senator Manfred Fluss, Professor Helga Grubitzsch, Sylvia Jürgens, Dr. Rita Kellner-Stoll, Professor Heinz-Otto Peitgen, Axel Schubert, Khaled Swaidan, private lecturer Cordula Weißköppel and Charline Wolff.
Other stations of the exhibition are the Haus der Wissenschaft Bremen (September 1 to December 2, 2023) and the Kulturhaus Müller Ganderkesee (December 8, 2023 to the end of February 2024).
