Aligarh Muslim University organized Workshop on archaeology
Aligarh : The Centre of Advance Study, Department of History, Aligarh Muslim University organized a week-long workshop on “Recent Trends in Indian Archaeology”.
More than 115 undergraduate and postgraduate students and research scholars from Departments of History and Museology participated in the workshop.
A number of eminent resource persons including Professor Emeritus Prof Irfan Habib, Prof Shireen Moosvi, Prof Ali Nadeem Rezavi, Prof Manvendra Kumar Pundhir, Prof S Jabir Raza, Ms Lubna Irfan (Women’s College) and Dr Banani Bhattacharya (Deputy Archaeologist, Department of Archaeology and Museums, Haryana) delivered talks on various aspects of archaeology. Demonstrations were also made on cleaning archaeological artefacts and making ground plans of archaeological sites and excavations.
A field trip to the Aligarh Fort was also organized and apart from its history and building technology, the participants were also provided training on measuring an archaeological site.
