Mother language day celebrations held at different departments of studies at the Aligarh Muslim University

Aligarh: The Mother Language Day celebrations were held at different departments of studies at the Aligarh Muslim University.

The Department of Tahaffuzi Wa Samaji Tib (Preventive and Social Medicine), A K Tibbiya College, AMU, organized a talk on “Mother Language: Perceptive and Impressive” by Dr Ammar Ibne Anwar.

Dr Ammar said it was essential for a doctor to know the patient’s mother language if he wanted to reach the concrete provisional diagnosis.

Dr Syeda Ayeman Mazhar, PG Scholar delivered a speech on the “Importance of Mother Language”.

In her concluding remarks, Prof Rubi Anjum, Chairperson, highlighted the importance of knowing local language for a physician for effective treatment of his patients.

Dr Mohammad Aslam proposed a vote of thanks.

At the Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall residence for girls, a number of competitive events were held to mark the Matribhasha Diwas, which included solo singing in mother language, dancing, acting, speech, monologue and cuisine.

More than thirty students participated in the events representing various languages of India, including Hindi, Urdu, Pahari, Tamil, Mayalam, Ladakhi, Kashmiri, Bhojpuri, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese.

In solo singing, Sanjida Parveen and Daniya shared the first place while Irteza stood second and Ms Zehra Batool got third place. In the cultural representational event, the first position was given to the group of Assamese students, Jubin Nahar, Mehnaz Alfaruque, Kausar, Latifa Begum and Shabnam. Nafeesa Sultana stood second while Laxmi and Sanjida Parveen shared the third position.
