Ural Federal University Students from Kyrgyzstan Hold a Victory Day Event
On May 4, the Bishkek State University held an event dedicated to the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. The event was initiated by the Master’s students from Kyrgyzstan studying at the Department of Organization of Work with Youth of the Ural Federal University, the Vice-Rector for Youth Work, lecturers and students of the BSU. Graduates of different years of the Ural Federal University took an active part in the event.
The purpose of the event was to preserve the historical memory of the heroism of Kyrgyz citizens during the Second World War and to instill in young people a sense of pride and gratitude for the courage and heroism of their ancestors.
“At the very beginning, a short movie about the heroism of the Kyrgyz people on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War was shown. Then a Master’s student of the Ural Federal University gave a lecture on the contribution of Kyrgyz citizens to the Victory. The graduates also presented a book about the Great Patriotic War prepared by the Ural Federal University. It tells the story of Kyrgyz people who heroically defended their homeland from fascists. Within the limits of the event a quiz “Our common victory” was held, in which the BSU students took part. The students who won the quiz received books and souvenirs from the UrFU students,” the organizers of the meeting said.
The event ended with a memorial meeting where prominent alumni of the Ural Federal University, students and teachers of the BSU spoke. Flowers were laid at the foot of the monument to General Ivan Panfilov.
“May 9 is one of the most important dates not only in Kyrgyzstan and Russia, but all over the world. Every year BSU holds events dedicated to Victory Day, and this year was no exception. The Ural Federal University is our long-term and reliable partner with whom we fruitfully cooperate and hold joint events. At today’s joint event, it was important for Bishkek State University and Ural Federal University to pass on to the younger generation the traditions of protecting and defending their homeland. It is also important to honor the names of Kyrgyz citizens who gave their lives for their country in the fight against fascist invaders,” said BSU Rector Professor Abdylda Musaev.
