“Ekaterinburg in Two Dimensions” benefits students
The UrFU Chinese-Russian Institute organized the festival “Ekaterinburg in Two Dimensions” for students from China. Students had an opportunity to learn more about the history of the Urals capital by visiting historical sites and taking part in master classes. There was also a musical block and a tea party with kulichi. A total of 64 students participated in the event.
The tour of historical sites for students was led by Aleksey Safronov, Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Cultural Service and Tourism of the Ural Federal University. The students visited the Stone Flower Fountain, the Historical Square, the house of the merchant Chuvildin, the Keyboard Monument, the Center of Contemporary Art and other famous places.
“It was a wonderful festival. I learned a lot about Ekaterinburg and its history. I learned how to dance hip-hop and tasted kulich for the first time in my life,” said Chen Zongquan, a student of the UrFU Chinese-Russian Institute.
The workshops were held in an old 19th century mansion at 16 Vainera Street in the Domna creative cluster. All students took part in six master classes. They wrote letters to their relatives on postcards with a view of Ekaterinburg, learned to dance hip-hop, created a flower bouquet, sang songs together, built tall towers, and took part in a professional photo shoot.
“The unusual format of the festival allowed the students not only to get to know the history of Ekaterinburg better. They could also learn about our cultural traditions and demonstrate their creative skills. We managed to create a very cozy, friendly atmosphere where students could have fun and make new acquaintances,” said Tatiana Kazantseva, an employee of the Department of Academic Development.
The music block included a small concert prepared for the participants by student volunteers. The festival ended with a tea party. The students ate kulichi, shared their impressions, took pictures and exchanged contacts.
