Four-Lane Highway To Connect ITMO Highpark With St. Petersburg

Equipped with sidewalks, bike lanes, and bus stops, the road (ca. 1.5 kilometers in length) will run along the railway line from an interchange of Kiyevskoye Shosse (near the railway station Kondakopshino) to the administrative borders of St. Petersburg.

A decision to approve the project of the design and demarcation of the area for the construction of the new highway was during a recent session between Alexander Beglov, the Governor of St. Petersburg, and the members of the Government of St. Petersburg.

During the session, the Governor emphasized the value of ITMO Highpark as one of the largest projects in the science and technology sector. The tender for the construction of its first phase was to PolitekhStroy. The company will erect the main academic building, a student club, and two dormitories for 1,600 residents, which are scheduled to enter service in September 2025.

“We want the innovation center to boast a well-developed road infrastructure, the construction of which will be synchronized with the district’s development,” notes Alexander Beglov.

ITMO Highpark is a world-class research and educational center currently under construction in the south of St. Petersburg. The complex will include a campus for the university’s Master’s and PhD students, a techno valley, and a business park for tech enterprises. The construction is carried out as part of the national program Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation.
