Monash one of the world’s top universities in latest subject rankings
Monash University has been named one of the world’s top universities for the study of 42 subjects, according to the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject released today.
The rankings provide authoritative comparative analysis on the performance of 13,138 individual programs at 1368 universities, which can be found in 83 locations in the world across 48 academic disciplines and five broad subject areas.
Monash continues to advance its reputation in research and education excellence, placing in the top 100 in 40 of the subjects tabled.
The University’s best performance was in Pharmacy & Pharmacology, ranking second in the world with a perfect Academic Reputation score of 100. Engineering – Mineral & Mining closely followed, placing seventh with an Employer Reputation score of 96.1.
Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said the results are further recognition of Monash’s growing reputation on the global stage as a centre for world-class education, innovation and research.

QS’s World University Rankings by Subject methodology uses four components to produce the results for each of the subject rankings, with weightings adapted for each discipline. The four components are: Academic Reputation; Employer Reputation; Research Citations Per Paper and H-index.
Monash is currently ranked 58 overall in the QS World University Rankings, released in June 2019.
