Zhejiang University hosts the visit of Delegation of Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai
On April 19, a delegation of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, including consul general Tiziana D’Angelo, commercial consul Alessandra Palumbo, and director of Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai Francesco D’Arelli, visited the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhejiang University. ZHOU Tianhua, vice president of Zhejiang University, LI Min, director of the Office of Global Engagement and LUO Yaozhi, dean of the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, met with the guests.
ZHOU Tianhua extended his cordial welcome to Tiziana D’Angelo and her delegation. He introduced the University’s defining features and global strategy as well as the development of the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture. “Zhejiang University attaches immense importance to cooperation with other universities and institutions all over the world, and we are willing to deepen friendly relationships and expand cooperation with Italy,” he said.
Tiziana D’Angelo expressed her thanks for Zhejiang University’s hospitality and hoped that Zhejiang University would enter into closer partnership with Italian universities, thus promoting mutual development. Francesco D’Arelli talked about Italy’s latest progress in architectural protection and cultural preservation as well as its cooperation with Chinese universities in recent years. He looked forward to more dialogue and exchange in the future. He highlighted a vitally important global innovative cultural project which will be jointly carried out by the Zhejiang University College of Civil Engineering and Architecture and the Italian Encyclopedia of Science, Letters, and Arts (a.k.a. Treccani).
At the meeting, ZHOU Tianhua, LI Min, LUO Yaozhi, Tiziana D’Angelo, Alessandra Palumbo, Francesco D’Arelli etc. inaugurated the International Center of History, Critics of Architecture and Restoration of Historical Heritage (ICHCR). Prof. Paolo Vincenzo Genovese, director of the ICHCR, introduced the background and overview of the ICHCR, and hoped that it would promote cooperation in cultural heritage preservation between Italy and China. Prof. Federico Butera, honorary director of the ICHCR, delivered a video congratulatory message on the establishment of the ICHCR.
