Dept of Economics to Commemorate World Environment Day 2023 under G20 Events
Aligarh : The Department of Economics at Aligarh Muslim University is set to mark World Environment Day 2023 with a series of engaging programs as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) and G20 events. Led by Professor Md. Abdus Salam, Chairman of the department, and coordinated by Dr. Shirin Rais, Assistant Professor, the programs revolve around the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
The schedule includes the screening of documentary films on environmental themes, with a specific focus on plastic pollution, at the Online Teaching Lab of the Department of Economics on May 23-24, 2023. Additionally, an outreach program will be conducted on June 1st, aimed at promoting healthy environmental practices in Chattari village.
Moreover, the department is organizing four online competitions, including an essay writing competition, poster making competition, slogan writing competition, and photography competition, exclusively open to undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department. The festivities will culminate on June 5, with a prize distribution ceremony. The department’s initiatives reflect a strong commitment to raising awareness about environmental conservation and addressing the pressing issue of plastic pollution, contributing to the global effort to protect our planet.
